Longzhikun Racking: Warehouse Racking Solution Design

During daily use, the uprights at passageways and corners are most prone to deformation caused by forklift collisions. Loose bolts should be spotted and tightened in time. To prolong the service life of the racking, routine maintenance can be carried out in the following aspects:

1. Moisture-proof and rust prevention
Be sure to apply protective paint regularly to reduce the chance of rust. Attention must also be paid to warehouse ventilation to prevent a consistently damp environment. Although the uprights and beams of the racking are metal components with a baked-enamel finish on the surface, long‑term exposure to moisture and direct sunlight will still cause rust and affect the service life. If the shelves are made of wood, those near windows are likely to be hit by wind‑blown rain; the wooden boards will warp and bulge after absorbing moisture. Therefore, drainage and dehumidification should be carried out frequently.

2. Anti‑collision protection
Installing bollards plays a significant role in protecting the racking uprights. Bollards should be fitted according to the racking specifications, aisle width and handling equipment, and guardrails should be set up in passageway areas to minimize forklift knocks as much as possible.

3. Overload prevention
Different types of racking are designed for specific load capacities. The weight of goods placed on the racking must not exceed the allowable limit. Warehouse managers are advised to put up load capacity signs in prominent places on the racking. Follow the principle of “heavy at the bottom, light on the top” when stacking, i.e., place heavy goods on lower levels and light goods on higher levels.

4. Designate dedicated personnel to operate reach trucks
Heavy‑duty and high‑rise racking warehouses must be equipped with powered reach trucks. The vast majority of deformed uprights are caused by unauthorized personnel operating reach trucks without permission. Therefore, reach trucks may only be used by certified, professional operators.

5. Establish usage regulations
Different warehouses and different goods require different handling methods. Warehouse managers should formulate specific racking usage rules and ensure that every operator is familiar with and follows them. Only in this way can the safety and normal service life of the racking be guaranteed.
